Getting slammed with new business, orders and even enhancements is exciting, but it’s cost us a good bit of the forward progress on the blog. Now that there’s a lull in what’s happening, we’re going to reflect on how to keep that from recurring. We’ve not updated, we’ve not done what we preach.
Now–I never hide anything, they don’t call me GenuineChris for nothing. And, it’s invariable–some of our best customers get so slammed with business that they can’t update their blogs as much as they’d like. We know we’re going to get busy again, but the blog will want updates, and we’ll want to stay connected. We’ll add to our blog what it needs to succeed and take more of our own advice.
Consistency is the thing that our clients value most. Even if we’re only getting a few hits, the return and repeat customers are the ones that buy down the road. So demonstrating our commitment to consistency is critical to our short & long term success.
- Have some surplus blog posts. The WP plugin “auto schedule posts” can be configured such that you can have something post FOR you when you’re gone. It’ll take finished drafts and post ‘em if you don’t post for 3-4 days.
- Schedule tweets in advance.
- Jump in and do a 5 minute “back soon, slammed with customers, call me to become one” post.
First, client work comes generally before our normal internal marketing. We have to ship sites because people depend on us to do them. (http://joeyd23.com) is an example of a new delivery. We can’t be just working on our stuff while people are waiting for us to deliver theirs that’s bad form–to say the least.
Anyway, more is coming as is always the case–we’ll be back and better than ever very soon. Our sister company, PatriotConnect.Com is also a place to go. More soon!
